Centre for Surgical Medicine Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Pain Therapy
The clinic treats about 40,000 patients per year during the peri-operative stage and supplies all operatively and diagnostically working clinics.
Moreover, patients with acute postoperative and chronic pain are treated inpatiently. The clinic is part of the Regional Pain Centre of Stuttgart and takes also part in outpatient care of pain patients.
The interdisciplinary operative intensive care unit treats about 2,300 patients per year after major surgery and with multiple accidental injuries, in close cooperation with the surgical units.
The clinic coordinates the leading emergency physicians of the city of Stuttgart, provides several leading emergency doctors and ensures emergency doctors for the ambulance cars of Stuttgart. The deputy head of the medical site director of our rescue helicopter “Christoph 41” as well as a part of its medical staff is provided by our clinic.
